Irradiated recipients (five mice per group) were transplanted with 100 or 10 freshly prepared cells or with fractions of day-7 cultures that had been initiated with 100 enriched cells. These cells had been expanded in culture in the presence of SF, IL-6, IL-11, EPO, and the designated additional cytokines. Background (peripheral blood of nontransplanted female mice) staining was less than 1.0%.
