200 Lin− Sca-1+ c-kit+ cells prepared from the marrow of 5-FU–treated mice were cultured in the presence of designated cytokines. On day 7 of culture, cells were analyzed for CFU, CFU-GEMM, and CFU-Meg in methylcellulose culture. Similar results were obtained in an additional experiment.
