Table 1.

Relationship Between Eosinophilia and Telomerase Activity in HD Samples

Eosinophils-150Fraction of Telomerase-Positive Cases
24/27 (88.9%)
1-10  4/8 (50%)
11-200 1/29 (3.4%)
>200  1/12 (8.3%)-151
Eosinophils-150Fraction of Telomerase-Positive Cases
24/27 (88.9%)
1-10  4/8 (50%)
11-200 1/29 (3.4%)
>200  1/12 (8.3%)-151

The correlation between the presence of eosinophils and the absence of telomerase activity was highly significant (P < .00001).

F0-150

Number of eosinophils counted in 10 randomly selected high power vision fields. The eosinophils were not counted in 1 HD sample.

F0-151

The HD sample that exhibited detectable telomerase activity in the category >200 eosinophils was the 1 lymphocyte depletion (LD) case of the whole study.
