*MO were cultured for 2 or 4 days in RPMI plus 2% serum with or without RA on teflon foils. Cells were harvested and counted. Data represent the percentage of living cells of the initial cell number.
M-CSF protein was measured in the culture supernatants by commercially available ELISA. Data are expressed as picograms per milliliter.
Cells were harvested and lysed with guanidine thiocyanate solution. Northern analysis was performed according to the Materials and Methods. Densitometric analysis is shown.
The percentage of inhibition by RA is shown in parentheses.
