IV injection of rhIL-11 in wild type C57BL/6J female mice

Mice (n ≥ 4) were injected via the tail vein with a placebo or a bolus of 250 or 1000 μg/kg rhIL-11 and bled 3 hours later. Platelets were counted, and plasma levels of vWf and FVIII were assessed as described. No significant differences were found, as compared to placebo, in platelet counts or in vWf and FVIII levels, which indicates that rhIL-11 does not act though a rapid release of storage granules.
