Recipients were considered positive if at least 5% of red cell-depleted peripheral blood cells were of donor origin (Ly-5.1).

CRU frequency is the number of BM cells containing 1 CRU.

Absolute numbers of CRUs were determined by multiplying 1 CRU frequency by the number of cells injected.

Homing efficiency is the ratio of CRUs detected in secondary recipients over the number of CRUs transplanted into the primary recipients multiplied by 100.
