The results of studies in 4 c-mpl−/−:PeP3b pairs are shown. As some immunologic destruction of PeP3b (CD45.1) cells by C57BL/6J and ROSA26 (CD45.2) parabionts was noted in our previous studies,16  we also performed 2 experiments pairing c-mpl−/− and ROSA26 mice so that cells in both parabionts expressed the CD45.2 isoform. Cells with distinct cell surface determinants survive equivalently when transplanted into irradiated (immunocompromised) recipients, such as in the competitive repopulation assays of Figure 2. The amount of trafficking from WT to c-mpl−/− parabionts is low and was not significantly different from that observed between WT parabionts after 6 weeks of parabiosis in previous studies (1.4% ± 0.4%).15
