Response data are numbers (%). Overall response is defined as platelet counts 30 × 109/L or more and more than 2-fold increase of baseline counts. Complete response is defined as platelet counts 100 × 109/L or more. In every gray row, the first number (n) is the number of patients with available platelet numbers; the second number (in brackets) represents the number of patients with available response data when former platelet counts were also taken into account in the way described in Methods. At 6 mo, for 3 patients in both groups, earlier platelet counts were between 100 and 150 × 109/L, so for these patients, only response data could be reported and no data regarding chronic ITP according to the former definition.
RR reported as the risk for the outcome in the IVIg group compared with the risk in the observation group.
For 1 patient only a description of the platelet count (“fully recovered”) could be retrieved from the patient file.
