*Whole-blood samples from patients either in steady-state or in crisis of SCD were stimulated with either PBS, 1 μmol/L FMLP, or 20 μmol/L PMA for 15 minutes and neutrophil H2O2production was measured fluorimetrically as described in Materials and Methods.
The data shown are total cellular H2O2production in arbitrary fluorescence units and are the mean ± 1 SE of the number of experiments shown in parentheses.
