*Whole-blood samples from patients either in steady-state or in crisis of SCD were stimulated with either PBS, 1 μmol/L FMLP, or 20 μmol/L PMA for 15 minutes and neutrophil H2O2production was measured fluorimetrically as described in Materials and Methods.
