Values shown for the individual experiments are means of the values shown in parentheses, which represent the proportion of marked CFC determined in individual mice. The mean number ± SEM of colonies counted in the absence of G418 was 28 ± 3 (range, 6 to 53) and 7 ± 1 (range, 1 to 16) in the presence of G418. For the PCR analyses, duplicate analyses of from 8 to 20 colonies were performed per mouse.
