Immunostaining of cells that were sorted and analyzed (sorted-cytospin) or sorted and plated overnight from S- and L-cell subpopulations. Fluorescence intensity given estimate of level of expression: − none, + low, ++ medium, +++ high, ++++ very high; () indicates percentage of cells expressing the specific phenotypic marker. DAPI staining was used to show present of viable cells in each population; irrelevant antibody and 2nd Ab alone was used to show the absence of nonspecific staining.
