c-kithigh or c-kitlow cells (500 cells/well) were cultured in 4-well chamber slides in the presence of CESJ medium, M-CSF, or GM-CSF for 14 days. The cells in four random fields per chamber were enumerated as TRAPase-positive or -negative type. Whole fields were examined to identify TRAPase-positive multinucleated cells (>3 nuclei). Because the results for c-kithigh and c-kitlow cells were the same, n reflects the combined total wells.
