Nearly All CD34+ MM B Cells Express Clonotypic IgH VDJ mRNA

Each set of patient-specific primers was tested on sorted CD19+ B cells from at least one unrelated MM donor and one normal donor. In no case were positive cells detected. For 3/4 MM Pts, the number of CD34+19+ B cells with clonotypic mRNA was comparable to the number having histone mRNA, CD19 mRNA, or total IgH mRNA (consensus primers), suggesting that all B cells with intact mRNA had clonotypic mRNA; for the fourth patient, insufficient slides were available to evaluate other primers.
