PBMCs (107/0.1 mL) were preincubated with or without EBV for 20 minutes, diluted to 1 mL with HBSS, and stimulated with A23187 (75 nmol/L) for 5 minutes in the presence of 15-HpETE (3 μmol/L). Reactions were stopped by the addition of 1 vol of methanol/acetonitrile (50/50, vol/vol) and the LTB4 and 5,15-DiHETE contents of incubation media were measured by RP-HPLC. 5-LO products were not detectable in untreated cells or in cells treated with EBV alone. Values are the means of triplicate incubations ± SD and are expressed in picomoles per 107 cells.

Abbreviation: ND, not detectable.
