Table 2.

Transplantation of HSCs transduced with a WASP-expressing retrovirus decreases the susceptibility to colitis in RAG-2 KO recipients

Donor HSCs (retrovirus)Recipient mice
with colitis, %
Mean colitis score
WT (CMMP-GFP) 0 (0/7) 0.0 ± 0.0
WKO (CMMP-GFP) 63 (5/8) 1.9 ± 2.0*
WKO (CMMP-WASP-GFP) 22 (2/9) 0.3 ± 0.7*
Donor HSCs (retrovirus)Recipient mice
with colitis, %
Mean colitis score
WT (CMMP-GFP) 0 (0/7) 0.0 ± 0.0
WKO (CMMP-GFP) 63 (5/8) 1.9 ± 2.0*
WKO (CMMP-WASP-GFP) 22 (2/9) 0.3 ± 0.7*

WT or WKO HSCs were transduced with the indicated retrovirus and then transplanted into RAG-2 KO recipient mice.

Colons were evaluated 8 to 12 weeks after transplantation from 4 transplantation experiments. Number of mice with colitis and their colitis scores ± standard deviations are noted.
