Irradiated WT hosts were engrafted with virus-infected marrow cells from WT or TGF-β1−/− (knock-out [KO]) donors. CFC-derived colonies from marrow (30 per animal) were picked from methylcellulose. Samples were analyzed by PCR with primers specific for the viral TPO gene and with actin primers to ascertain the presence of material.
