Hematologic response criteria
Complete hematologic response
WBC count ≤institutional ULN*
ANC ≥1000/mm3
Platelets ≥100 000/mm3
No blasts or promyelocytes in peripheral blood
Bone marrow blasts ≤5%
<5% myelocytes plus metamyelocytes in peripheral blood
Basophils in peripheral blood <20%†
No extramedullary involvement (including no hepatomegaly or splenomegaly)
No evidence of leukemia
Basophils in peripheral blood <20%† and at least one of the following:
20 000/mm3 ≤platelets <100 000/mm3
500/mm3 <ANC <1000/mm3
<15% blasts in bone marrow and in peripheral blood
<30% blasts plus promyelocytes in bone marrow and <30% blasts plus promyelocytes in peripheral blood
<20% basophils in peripheral blood
No extramedullary involvement other than spleen and liver
WBC indicates white blood cell; ULN, upper limit of normal; and ANC, absolute neutrophil count.
ULNs were as follows: 1 center 8.0, 1 center 8.8, 1 center 9.0, 6 centers 10.0, 2 centers 10.8, 6 centers 11.0, 1 center 11.1.
