Pulmonary hypertension | Echocardiography if not done within a year or if symptomatic. Any anomalies should be discussed with a cardiologist. |
Chronic sickle lung disease | Oxygen saturation in all women. Sleep studies and lung function tests where necessary. |
Avascular necrosis | Review hip complications, which may worsen during pregnancy. |
Stroke | If history of previous stroke, consider the role of transfusion therapy during pregnancy if not already on it. |
Chronic pain | Women on long-term opioids should be referred to a chronic pain clinic for assessment and managed by a pain specialist. |
